LYRICS
His mothers name was Angeline, catholic school it left him blue and green. They spoke of heaven but they’d never been, our boy he was a child and so he just blindly believed.
In the dream that he would make it out, become a preacher in a quiet town, take the word and spread it all around. My god, he was saved but never in the way you would think.
He found an old eight track, he never looked too far back.
And I come alive at the sound of your expectations, they’re so wide eyed and that’s why I cannot believe.
You , aren’t moved by “the sound” or the “good vibrations”, so arresting in that strange way I can’t believe
His parents said he sold his soul, he just wanna play that rock and roll. Believed the word but hell it took its toll yet still, he’s got stories where the ending got you grinding your teeth.
Now he’s working for the minimum, you might say that he’s down on his luck. He never would sell out to anyone. Somehow, he says it’s something in the good old fashioned way he was raised.
He remembers that eight track, he never looked too far back.
And I come alive at the sound of your expectations, they’re so wide eyed and that’s why I cannot believe.
You , aren’t moved by “the sound” or the “good vibrations”, so arresting in that strange way I can’t believe
He says trust me trust me I’ll sell you nothing I can’t make you believe and honey darling never blame me, blame he who knows not how to take in the word (x2)
And I come alive at the sound of your expectations, they’re so wide eyed and that’s why I cannot believe.
You , aren’t moved by “the sound” or the “good vibrations”, so arresting in that strange way I can’t believe
